Welcome to Wrentham Historical Society’s

HOME  PAGE

The Wrentham Historical Society was incorporated in 1973, and over time it has formulated into an active and diverse organization.

WHS offers a series of lectures on a wide variety of historical subjects.  Since its inception in 1995, the series has become an integral part of the social life of Wrentham.  WHS meets for the lectures during the months of September to May in the Fiske Public Library on Randall Road.  Meetings take place in the Sweatt Room of the Fiske Public Library and begin promptly at 7:30 p.m.  They are free to members.  There is a small donation suggested of non-members.

Members receive a WHS Newsletter which contains a wide variety of articles on history both national and local.  It is diversified in its content and is popular with WHS members.

WHS also has a unique collection of Wrentham history known as the MacDougald Collection which is permanently housed in the Genealogy Room of the Fiske Public Library. This Collection is the product of 30 years of work by local historian Joseph MacDougald who has donated his work to the Wrentham Historical Society. The Collection covers a vast expanse of data ranging from records of families, industries past and present, and includes thousands of entries on veterans from the earliest wars -- Revolutionary, Civil, French-Indian, etc., right up to the Gulf War. This information is now available on a database in the Genealogy Room of the Fiske Library.

Membership in the Wrentham Historical Society is not limited to Wrentham residents.  Membership is drawn from many areas around Wrentham as well as states as far away as California, Florida and Ohio.  Everyone is welcome. Membership fees are $17.00 for a single membership and $30.00 for a couple or family. For more information call 508-384-7151 or the Fiske Public Library at 508-384-5440.
